ONE email address ONLY.

Entries must contain a valid e-mail address (or alternative contact mechanism - see below), so that potential students can contact you without incurring telephone or postage costs and so that I can contact you without expense if there is any problem with your entry.

I check email addresses on the register regularly, to make sure the register is accurate and up to date. If 3 such checks (made over a period of about 6 weeks) fail, the teacher's entry is deleted from the register. To reduce the chances of this happening you can advise an alternate email address, where shown on the form.

To reduce significantly the possibility of a spam agent picking up your email address and sending you spams, the email address is encoded in the register (using a technique called "obfuscation") and all that actually appears on the webpage is the text "Click here to email me".

For stronger spam protection, you are advised to have your own website and, on that site, to protect your email address either with an intercept device (such as www.spambutcher.com) or a contact or message facility which sends the message direct to you securely, bypassing the user's email program.

If you already have such a website and you enter its address lower down on the form, you will be able to choose not to have your email address contained in the register at all (to prevent spam agents picking it up).

Please note that, if you use the "Comments" section to show an alternative email address, it will not be encoded or hidden and can easily be picked up and used by spam agents.
